The Tartan Ball, sponsored annually by the Pipes and Drums of Erepa Grotto, is an evening of music and entertainment that has been the highlight of the social calendar in Erie for 58 years. People from all over the
tri-state area and Canada have enjoyed the festivities, and return year after year.
A typical evening starts off at 8:00 p.m. with the dance band playing for your listening and dancing pleasure. About 9:00 the opening ceremonies are held followed by more dancing. Throughout the evening entertainment by the guest band, highland dancers and the host band make for a lively night.
Much of the proceeds are donated to worthwhile charities such as the Achievement Center, Dentistry for the Handicapped, and Cerebral Palsy. All this would not be possible if not for the support of the Dance Bands, the guest Bands, the Highland Dancers, the hard work of the Grotto Band, and most of all the patrons.
